Since 2014, Andy has split his time between LANL and the private sector working mostly in the applied genomics research and development space. After spending four years at a biotech startup, he returned to LANL in 2020 and has been focusing primarily on developing next gen sequencing methods for microbial detection from air and wastewater samples through signature enrichment. He holds a master’s degree in applied medical sciences from the University of Southern Maine where his thesis work focused on host-virus systems in hypersaline environments.
