A genetic algorithm for phase reconstruction from FROG

Abstract

We describe a new technique for obtaining the phase and electric field from FROG measurements using genetic algorithms. We have used the genetic algorithm to retrieve both theoretical and experimental SHG and PG FROG traces. For certain types of pulses, the genetic algorithm can return a lower FROG error than the standard iterative algorithm.
