Abstract

We demonstrate a CMOS-fabricated, piezoelectrically actuated, integrated acousto-optic modulator operating at gigahertz frequencies and visible wavelengths. Our device is 2 mm long and achieves modulation depths exceeding 2.1 rad with an applied microwave power of 15 m W.
