Abstract

Ohmic losses severely limit the performance of metamaterials. High-index semiconductors offer an attractive alternative. We review several meta-surfaces based on silicon and silicon carbide enabling infrared applications such as polarization manipulation and thermal emission. © 2013 The Optical Society.
