Abstract

A new class of materials with a vanishing permittivity, known as epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) materials, has been re[1]ported to exhibit unprecedented ultrafast nonlinear efficien[1]cies within subwavelength propagation lengths. We study the pump dependent near perfect absorption ENZ plas[1]mon in a thin indium tin oxide (ITO) layer. Utilising the Kretschmann configuration combined with the ENZ plas[1]mon resonance could pave the way towards ultrafast switching from near-perfect absorption to total internal reflection or vice versa.
