Abstract

The active slip modes for the near-α titanium alloy with lamellar microstructure were studied after compression in the α + β phase-field via in-grain misorientation axis analysis. The test results revealed that the activity of the pyramidal 〈a + c〉 and basal 〈a〉 slip systems become easier at 980 °C than at 900 °C. However, the prismatic 〈a〉 slip was always the most easily activated slip system at both temperatures. Meanwhile, the prismatic 〈a〉 slip was more easily actuated due to the rotation of the lamellae and crystal lattice, which can be contributed to increases in the Schmid's factor as the strain of compression increased.
