Abstract
A class of new organic conducting salts α'-(BEDT-TTF)2X with X- = Ag(CN)2-, Au(CN)2- and AuBr2-were synthesized, and their structures determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction. These α'-(BEDT-TTF)2Xsalts have a two dimensional BEDT-TTF network structure which is drastically different from that of the α- and β-(BEDT-TTF)2X with X- = I3-, IBr2- and AuI2-. Band electronic structures calculated for the BEDT-TTF network of theα'-(BEDT-TTF)2X salts show that they are pseudo one-dimensional metals. Theα'-(BEDT-TTF)2X salts form monoclinic crystals, space group P2 n, Z=4, with lattice constants: (BEDT-TTF)2Ag(CN)2, a = 7.956(2) A ̊, b = 6.732(3) A ̊, c = 30.738(8) A ̊, β = 90.05°(1), and Vc = 1646.3(6) A ̊3; (BEDT-TTF)2Au(CN)2, a = 7.932(5) A ̊, b = 6.735(2) A ̊, c = 31.018(14) A ̊, β = 91.14°(5), and Vc = 1657.7(1) A ̊3; and (BEDT-TTF)2AuBr2, a = 7.799(2) A ̊, b = 6.723(2) A ̊, c = 31.756(9) A ̊, β = 93.46(2)°, and Vc = 1662.0(7) A ̊3.
