Abstract
We demonstrate that, under specific experimental conditions (isothermal crystallization from a single nucleation event in nearly spherical specimens), differential scanning calorimetry data can be used to deduce the velocity of a crystallization front in undercooled liquids. For Pd43.2Cu28Ni8.8P20 alloy and 683 K < T < 700 K, the growth velocity is approximately 4.3 × 1013 (ms-1) exp (-2.7 eV/kT).
