Abstract

Previous work done to measure spall response of U-Nb(6%) alloy showed a somewhat surprising result. In all experiments done previously no evidence for an elastic wave was observed; that is, no two wave structure was detected. In this paper we report on the results of new experiments done to look at the effect in more detail. Dedicated experiments were done to look for evidence of elastic wave under compression, and preliminary results are reported.
