Abstract

This paper discusses the processes of the appearance of microrelief and its parameters on films of polymethyl methacrylate 1 mm thick and polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) 0.7 mm thick with a hard platinum coating. It is proposed to optimize the process for fabricating PETP substrates with microrelief. The birefringence and the transmittance of the films are studied as a function of their stretching. The possibility of using them as scatterers for displays, diffraction gratings, and other optical elements is discussed.
