Abstract
The tunneling studies of the density of states (DOS) in ultrathin Beryllium (Be) films quench-condensed at 20K were reported. The DOS showed a logarithmic anomaly near 5K. A hard correlation gap of 30-40 mV emerged at the Fermi level at mK temperatures. The hard gap narrowed as the films became thicker and less insulating. It was found that the DOS depended on film thickness, temperature and magnetic field.
