Abstract
Based on an extended Hubbard model, the spatial variation of the order parameter is calculated self-consistently near the surface of d-wave superconductors. It is shown a (Formula presented) order parameter can be induced near a (110) surface, leading to splitting of the zero-energy peak in the surface local density of states and the generation of a spontaneous surface supercurrent. This splitting can be diminished by the increase of orthorhombicity, on-site repulsive interaction, or temperature. Our results give a microscopic explanation for the surface broken-time-reversal-symmetry pairing state.
