Abstract
An optical pump, THz probe spectroscopy is used to create a nonequilibrium distribution of quasiparticles in superconducting YBa2Cu3O7-δ thin films using 150-fs, 1.5-eV optical pulses and investigated the subsequent superfluid and quasi particle dynamics. An initial fast recovery, occurring on a timescale of 10 ps is followed a much longer process. By directly measuring conductivities, an evaluation of the transient temperature is determined after photoexcitation and after the initial recovery. The temperature dependence of the initial relaxation time is proportional to 1/Δ(T).
