Nonlinear effects in microstructured fibers

Abstract

A variety of nonlinear effects are observed coupling low average power femtosecond pulses (up to 25 mW) in a short length (Z=20 cm) of microstructured fiber. We describe fundamental (N=1) and higher order (N=2) soliton formation, large self-frequency shift, visible harmonic generation and polarization dependent optical bistability.
