Abstract
The results of a study of optical properties of single CdS nanorods with a simultaneous study of their morphology which was imaged using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) were reported. It was shown that CdS nanorods have some characteristic properties of nanoparticles, such as spectral diffusion. In contrast to the blueshift typically observed in semiconductor nanoparticles due to the quantum size effect, it was found that the main peaks in the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of the CdS nanorod show a small redshift with respect to the spectrum of the bulk CdS.
