Abstract
Fabrication of difference-frequency generation devices with 3 dB conversion loss and bandwidths > 60 nm in the 1.5 μm band is described, as are 'cascade' devices which mimic four-wave mixing with two sequential three-wave mixing processes. Applications to conversion of single and multiple channels within the 1.5 μm band, symmetrical conversion from 1.3 μm to 1.5μm and 1.5 μm to 1.3 μm, and dispersion compensation of four 10 Gbit/s channels over 150 km are also presented.
