Topological disorder and Bi-level states in the 2-D electron glass

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

We have investigated the topological disorder and the inherent structure of an electron glass on a corrugated surface by the molecular dynamics method. Dislocations and grain-boundary loops are found to be the dominant defects in the system. Direct evidence for two-level states is obtained in the electron glass and the transitions between them are found to be due to co-operative positional changes in a small number of electrons. © 1985.
