Abstract

Ultralow-threshold operation of a modelocked Ti:Al2O3 laser was presented. Output bandwidths of 80 nm to greater than 125 nm FWHM can be generated with pulse durations as short as 11 fs. Threshold for initiating and sustaining Kerr lens modelocked (KLM) were <260 mW pump power and the laser generates 13 mW with 50 MHz pulse repetition rates.
