Research interests
Dr. Clausen has been Instrument Scientist for SMARTS, the engineering neutron diffraction instrument at the Lujan Center at LANSCE, for more than two decades. His research interests are focused on determining structure-property relationship for LANL mission relevant materials and composites via constitutive modeling and experimental validation. His experience includes in-situ neutron and synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements of internal and residual strains and stresses, phase fractions, dislocation densities and texture as well as development of self-consistent crystal plasticity based polycrystal deformation models, finite element modeling and mechanical testing.
