    Research interests

Dr. Kelli Feeser’s work focuses on community-level microbial ecology. She has expertise in analyzing how members of a microbial community assemble, how these assemblages are influenced by environmental conditions, and how members interact to respond to disturbances. Her research in the simplified ecosystems of Antarctic soils – where only microbes are typically present – has allowed her to study the fundamental principles underpinning microbial community assembly and function. She has applied her knowledge to a range of diverse ecosystems: polar and temperate deserts, watersheds, and rodent guts, among others.

    Research interests:

    • Community-level microbial ecology
    • Nutrient flux and biogeochemical cycling
    • Bacterial-fungal-viral interactions
    • Microbial-mediated aspects of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
    • Genomics for rare disease diagnostics
